A new blow to China like the African swine fever found in wild boars

China's efforts to stem the spread of African swine fever hit hard on Friday when the Agriculture Ministry confirmed it had found the first case in wild pigs and deepened the three-month crisis of the world's top producer.

The country also approved the first outbreak in the southwestern province of Szechwan, the leading area of the herd of pigs, raising the likelihood of a significant impact on the supply of pork in the coming months.

The disease was found in dead wild pigs in the city of Bastian, Jilting district, in northeastern China, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

"The new case says it will be even more difficult to control the swine fever in Africa," said Jah Guiding, an analyst with the China-America Data Commodity Consulting Company.

China has banned the transportation of pigs and live products from areas infected by the heat of African pigs and neighboring provinces to control the spread of the most contagious disease, as well as the prohibition of feeding kitchen waste to pigs.

But the virus continued to spread despite the government's efforts, with more than 60 outbreaks in 18 provinces across the country since early August.

China's wild boar population, which can carry the disease without symptoms, is estimated at 33.5 million people, according to Reuters, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The local authorities in the village tested the adjacent areas by wild boars and carried out extensive sterilization of all the swine farms in the area, the Agriculture Ministry said.

Analysts said the discovery of the wild boar raised the possibility that the virus would be brought to China by animals from other countries.

China has accused the feeding of kitchen waste and pigs spread the disease.

The highly contagious disease was also discovered in a farm of 40 pigs in the city of Yibin, in the southeast of the San Vic.

"With the new case in San Vic, all the major provinces for the production of pigs have now fallen." The situation is very serious, "said Ye.

China recovers about 700 million pigs a year. San Francisco produced nearly 66 million in 2017, according to official figures, more than any other county.

Sichuan is also the province with the highest per capita consumption of pork in China at 36kg, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Provincial authorities in Sichuan last week banned the importation of all live pigs and pork products from other regions in an attempt to prevent the disease.

But Yibin is close to the borders of Sichuan with the Chongqing municipality and Chongqing and Guizhou District, both of which have already reported outbreaks.

The prices of pigs in the city of Cheng, the capital of Sicily, are now the highest in the country, thanks to strong domestic demand and the accumulation of disease-afflicted provinces.

Prices fell 0.2 yuan on Friday, from Sunday, to 17.7 yuan per kilogram, according to data collected by China-America.

The discovery of swine fever in Africa in Van comes less than three months before the celebration of the moon this year in early February, which indicate the peak demand of China for pork.

There is no cure or vaccine for the disease, and the virus can survive for weeks in pork and animals.
