Cape Town – Orlando Pirates confirmed that goalkeeper on Wednesday Shining Khuzwayo was forced to withdraw due to a recurrent ankle injury.
The Soweto giants have confirmed that after consulting with independent medical experts, it has been decided that the 29-year-old should prematurely end his playing career.
Khuzwayo is a product of the Orlando Pirates youth development academy and returned to rival club Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
Speaking to the club's website, Khuzwayo said: "It was a great feeling to come back to the club, unfortunately because of my ankle I couldn't fulfill my dream. I am a person who always wants to fulfill knowing I can give my all, what I do because of my ankle and after consulting with the specialists, I have been told that I will not be able to play at an elite level. "
