South American circus lions are still troubled in South Africa

More than two dozen lions who were rescued from South American circuses and taken to a large South African shelter may be back in motion after a legal argument.

"Zoo Shield International," a group that flew the Lions to South Africa in 2016, approved a court order this month to allow the removal of the lions from Amoya's great temple in Wellwater.

The International Wildlife Shield has noted the deaths of six of the 33 lions since they have reached Amoy as well as other problems. She says she is organizing a "road trip" to another home for the survivors.

Emoya denies accusations of wrongdoing. This means the South African ruling against this is based solely on the 90-day suspension clause in the contract with Animal Defenders International.
