ASPIRA joins a World AIDS Watching Day

San Juan – On the occasion of the celebration of the World AIDS Day, ASPIRA Puerto Rico invites the community to visit its headquarters in Carolina on November 29, 9:00 a.m. at 4:00 p.m. They will offer HIV tests, free, trusting and quick with results in 20 minutes.

"One of the ASPIR program programs aims to promote healthy lifestyles. The institution focuses on the prevention of HIV / AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). We are proud to be one of the pioneering organizations in the fight against AIDS in the island", Adalexis Ríos Orlandi, executive director of the organization, said in written statements.

He explained that the Prevention Program (PEPS) was established in 1989, as part of efforts to reduce the impact of infections among young people. At present, it provides free attempts to detect HIV, with results delivered on the same day.

For her part, Lizbeth Rivera, Program Director (PEPS) reported that the observation of this day was born in the world meeting of the Kminado Minister of Health on AIDS prevention programs in 1988. Since then, the agencies of the United Nations , governments and civil society meet every year to fight in some places related to AIDS.
