Over the years, Continental's automotive supplier has supplied many electronic components with too high lead content. They even "marginally" exceeded the legal limits and reported in early June, the competent authorities said Continental.

The product quality and vehicle safety are not affected. According to the group, it is about the amount of lead from an average of 0.0003 grams with an affected element above the threshold.
As compensation for the violations, Continental presented an action plan to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Environmental Protection. According to this, the company wants to reduce the amount of lead in its electronic components beyond the legal requirements.
