Google's Hangouts message platform has been a hot topic these last days. Initially, recent information asked Google to give Hakouts the ax in 2020, but a director involved with the project on Google claims that such a date was fixed, and that migration plans to cross Hangouts (as consumers know at any time) at the Meeting / Chat. Everything that ends up actually happens, as a minimum, it sounds like Hangouts will change in the future. With that in mind, we are curious: how many of our readers still use Google Hangouts?
Try how I can not give it. Too many people that I know personally and professionally have changed to the platform for years. But that was back in the SMS-integrated days, when everything we wanted was a way to escape using Facebook products in our search for a platform-agnostic iMessage clone. Unfortunately, Google has constantly forgotten the functions of SMS out before driving users to Allo. Of course, that's fine. And during the last few years, the consumer-facing version of Hangouts has effectively implemented live support.
Although I continue to depend on it, I'm sure that many of our readers have long since resigned Hangouts – probably disappearing when SMS integration once lost. There is a whole range of alternative services there to replace it with various telegrams, Skype, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Viber, and Snapchat. Even basic, old SMS can work for messaging in a pinch.
So, have you moved to something else, or are you still using Hangouts?
