Environment Canada released a tornado warning for Red Deer County near Sylvan Lake and Stephansson House on Wednesday night.
At 8:45 a.m., Environment Canada said a severe thunderstorm about 15 miles northwest of Markerville could turn into a tornado.
The agency said the storm is heading northeast at 20 kilometers per hour, with Sylvan Lake, Evarts and Kusamo on its way.
At 9:15 p.m., Environment Canada settled in Lacombe County to the warning, saying communities affected would be Sylvan Lake, Jarvis Bay, Birchcliff and Prevo.
Ten minutes later, all warnings were dropped.
Several Sylvan Lake residents shared photos and videos of the storm with Global News.
Clayton Beniuk captured an incredible video of what appears to be a funnel cloud surrounding his home on the south side of Sylvan Lake at about 9 o'clock.
Large chunks of hail also fell on Sylvan Lake.
Environment Canada said damaging winds, heavy hail and heavy rainfall were possible.
"This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation," the agency said in the initial alert.
“Find out right away if threatening weather is approaching. If you hear a screaming sound or see a funnel cloud, roaring debris near the ground, flying debris, or some threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately. "
