OPP identified the victim of a fatal crash in South Huron.
Officers were called shortly 7 a.m. Saturday to the place on Whalen Line east of London Road. Passenger discovered a very damaged vehicle away from the road in the field. The South Fire Safety Department and Huron County Paramedic Services also responded to the scene.
Researchers say that the driver traveled to the west on Whalen Line in an ample sedane when somehow the vehicle left the road at high speed. It hit two trees, then rolled a lot.
The only occupant, identified by the OPP as Zachary Smith, 26, of St. Paul, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Whalen Line between London Rd. and Morrison Line was closed for several hours during researchers of the OPP-West Region Technique Choking Research (TCI) Team explored. It was reopened at 3:30 p.m.
Post mortem plans to be performed on Sunday to determine what happened to the driver.
