WORLD: How is the nature of your party different today than in the spring of 2015?
Altmaier: Since 2015, we have seen very drastic changes: the euro crisis, the movement of refugees with the inclusion of more people than ever before in the postwar history. The attack on Breitscheidplatz Berlin. At the far right was a new party. The success of AFD is not just because of these events.
What was crucial in the first place was that they gave a bad picture in the ruling parties and did not seem united. We dealt well with the challenges. But we'll talk about the reason and the right strategies for a while. And it is necessary and happens every day.
