2019/2020 Optibet Hockey League (OHL) will play its first game on September 7th. Two teams from Riga will come – champion Mogo and last season's finalist Kurbads, according to the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF).

Eight teams will compete for the OHL Cup next season, five representing the capital – Mogo, Kurbads, Prizma, HS Riga and Olympic debutant. Zemgale / LLU and Liepaja de Jelgava will also participate in the championship and Daugavpils will also be represented in the Latvian Premier League after six years. The East City Unity will start under the name Dinaburg.

Each team will play 35 games in the regular championship (five-lap tournament). A total of 140 matches will be played in the regular OHL tournament.

The elimination tournament will begin on March 10, 2020. The semi-final of an OHL innings will automatically qualify for the top two teams in the regular tournament. On the other hand, units in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place will gain up to two wins to qualify for the semifinals.

The winners of the semi-final will go to the final, where they will fight for gold. In turn the team, which lost in the semi-finals of the playoffs, but occupies a higher place in the first round of the championship, wins the 3rd place in the contest. The winners of the competition will receive not only the OHL Cup, but also the opportunity to represent Lazio in the Continental Cup organized by the International Hockey Federation (IIHF).

Last season Mogo became the champion of Latvia, breaking Kurbada's two-year reign in the final series, celebrating a 4-2 victory.
