A person's body is found on the Dominion Road in central Oakland on Wednesday morning.

The body, wrapped in a blanket on the front steps of a building, looked as though it were asleep. Police and ambulance services can be seen around 9:00 am.

One of the members of the nearby Dominion Lodge said the body was in the local building of Eden-Albert.

According to her, the local staff found the body of a homeless person when they came to work. He has since been taken in the ambulance.

Detective Sgt. Cathy Bostock said police were in the "unexplained death" camp on Dominion Road on Wednesday morning, which they received a message of around 8.50am.

"We are currently in place of making inquiries to determine what has occurred and we have no further information at this time," Bostock said.

Albert-Eden Local Council has been contacted for comment.
