Monza in the desert – the new BMW X5 becomes a racing car

The Monza circle moves The Sahara Desert. Last summer, the new BMW X5, equipped with the XOffroad package, was shown on the makeshift track in Morocco under the command of a professional pilot.

In Marzouga, Morocco, the weather conditions did not help those who worked to build a 1: 1 copy of the legendary Monza Circle in the desert. Topographers and technicians, engineers and architects worked in a circle for two weeks. The sandstorms that hit the area made them feel that they were doing Sisyphus.

Stones imported from the mountainous areas along the 5,793-mile route were painted white and red, and beyond them a fence was placed on the fence, similar to that found around the original circle.

BMW driving experience A professional guide, Giorgio Porello, was the driver of the new BMW X5. He knew the Italian circle, but passing through an improvised version in the desert would be a challenge.
