Today, there have been quite a few developments in the field of creating cars and self-driving, but the market has not yet been fully formed and the leader has not been determined. Naturally, many would like to take the main positions in a flourishing industry. To this end, some companies even combine their efforts. As, for example, such giants as Volvo and Baidu, which concluded agreement on the release of unmanned cars "in the very near future."
According to available data, companies will share responsibility to accelerate the process of producing self-propelled cars.
"The main idea is to develop a car as soon as possible, we will be responsible for developing the vehicle platform and integrating the equipment into it, and Baidu for software and everything related to it," said Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelson.
It is worth noting that in the summer of this year, the Chinese company has already introduced an updated platform for managing navigation and navigation systems Apollo 3.0. The platform is open source and used by more than 100 different companies. So, Baidu's experience is very good.
In addition, according to Bloomberg editors, the collaboration also has several advantages. For example, now most companies simply "convert" their stock stock into unmanned vehicles, which leads to some problems with market positioning and makes it difficult to move. In this case, we are talking about more ambitious, but at the same time easy integration to create cars at the fourth level of autonomy. The fourth level implies a completely independent movement of the car, without any human intervention.
So, according to all the same Hakan Samuelson, cars made "slightly different from our regular cars." Most likely we mean not only the appearance, but also the internal structure of the cell. At the same time, the fourth level of autonomy imposes certain restrictions, so that cars can only travel on roads or other special areas, but not under conditions of urban traffic. Companies say that by 2025 they want to occupy a third of the world market of unmanned vehicles.
