Drug trial shows promise protection from peanut allergens

An experimental peanut-based drug protects children and adolescents with life-threatening peanuts allergies, according to a study that allows subjects to eat small amounts of peanuts without suffering a severe reaction.

The drug, from a small California company, Aimmune Therapeutics, has not worked for everyone, it has some side effects and has been approved by regulators for sale. However, the findings of the experiment at a later stage promised a potential new solution to peanut allergies, a growing concern.
