Cape Town – Former Protas Stars, AB De Villiers says he enjoys his international retirement, but he can not wait to return to the field.

Considered one of the greatest creators in the history of the game, De Villiers stunned the world when he announced his retirement from international cricket in May, ending a lifetime dream to win the World Cup.

Instead, de Villiers has a preference for cricket game T20.

In a column he wrote for Krisinfo, De Villiers said he enjoyed his retirement but added that he expected to return to the momentum.

De Villiers will grab the Tshwane Spartans in the Mzansi Premier League, which starts on Friday, before turning his attention to a number of other T20 tournaments.

The 34-year-old will be ambassador to the UAE's T20 League in the United Arab Emirates before playing Premier League Bangladesh and the Pakistani Premier League before the IPL season starts in April.

"I'm looking forward to being in the midst of the action.It's only under six months since I announced my retirement from international cricket and I enjoy spending precious time with my wife and two young boys but now, resting, and ready to go, I can not wait to play again," de Villiers wrote .

"There are people who think I've retired from the cricket, this was never the plan, I work hard in the gym, in the nets, and all that goes in. This exciting frenzy of first-class cricket starts with the launch of the first Mzansi Premier League in South Africa later this week."

De Villiers went on to praise the fact that there are so many competitive T20 competitions doing the rounds on the world circuit, saying that cricket has never been in a healthy place. Sports.
